Landcare's CarboNZero to be rolled out in Eire

Landcare Research's carboNZero programme is about to expand its services into Ireland. Backed by more than a decade of research, the programme now has 8 million tonnes of greenhouse gases (GHG) under management, 170,000 tonnes of GHG offsets undertaken, 275 certifications issued, 250+ organisations contracted to become certified, and international licences in place.

Japanese ETS to begin in Tokyo

The Tokyo metropolitan government on Thursday launched a mandatory scheme to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from large office buildings and factories. The first cap-and-trade programme in Asia, it allows entities to purchase emissions credits achieved by others. The city accounts for around 5 per cent of Japan's greenhouse gas emissions.
