Established in 2025.
Purpose:
To provide strategic leadership of forestry training and provide clear feedback to government agencies regarding industry requirements for vocational training. Foster cohesion and efficiency of funding across forestry training.
Strategy
Committee members are to provide leadership in forestry training on behalf of the industry and help address the problems with engagement and industry feedback encountered in recent years.
Focus on the most important strategic issues facing forestry training in the next 12- 24 months. These issues are time sensitive and provide an opportunity to make meaningful change:
- Providing consultation and submission responses to Vocational Education Reform in 2025.
- Guide forest industry qualifications review in 2025.
- Development of forecasting data to predict training requirements accurately. Use a range of data sources to predict near and medium-term training requirements. Take the initiative and provide guidance data and guidance to government, rather than relying on government to tell us what the industry needs.
The reviews and development above occur on a cyclical basis, typically every five years. It is crucial for the forestry industry to capitalize on these moments to set the foundation for long-term success.
Membership
The committee is made up of members from the Forest Owners Association, Forest Industry Contractors Assosication , Nga Pou a Tane, and the Farm Forest Association.
