As the Australian Parliament spent another day debating the merit of a carbon tax, a forest industry conference in Canberra has heard that the forest industry grew under the New Zealand Government’s Emissions Trading Scheme.
One of the speakers at the conference is David Rhodes, the Chief Executive of the New Zealand Forest Owners Association. He says that while the debate in New Zealand was full of negativity about the impact of a carbon price on the economy, but once the ETS was implemented the conversation changed immediately.
Tracee Hutchison spoke to Mr Rhodes.
